Dr. Shiri has signed a contract with the American Society for Information Science and Technology (ASIS&T) and Information Today, Inc. to write a book on the role of thesauri in new information environments. The book will be published as part of the ASIS&T Monograph Series and will provide a comprehensive treatment of thesauri as search and browsing tools in user interfaces to a broad range of information retrieval systems, from bibliographic and full-text databases to subject gateways, digital libraries, portals, open archives, and semantic web applications such as liked data sources. A specific objective of this book is to bring together the research, development and scholarship from such areas as information retrieval, knowledge organization, human computer interaction, information architecture and information search behavior, to emphasize the importance of usable user interfaces to thesauri for the purpose of supporting users in their information search process.
