Congratulations to our newest Library and Information Professionals, who convocated on Thursday June 10, 2010. 34 students completed the Master of Library and Information Studies program this year.
Special congratulations to Michael Silver, who was presented with our Sarah Rebecca Reed Gold Medal in Library and Information Studies at the SLIS sponsored convocation lunch for graduating students and their guests, held on June 10. This medal is the School's highest and most prestigious academic honour. It recognizes Michael's outstanding performance in the program, as well as professional potential. This honour is accompanied by one year memberships in the Canadian Library Association and the Library Association of Alberta. Special congratulations also go to our other award-winners: Crystal Budgell for the Archives Society of Alberta SLIS Scholarship; Sarah Goetz for the David and Rhea Jenkinson Prize in Young Adult Literature; and Daniel De Castro for the SLIS Professional Recognition Award.
In addition to their 16 courses, students in the course-based route of the MLIS must complete a "Capping Exercise," which consists of an HTML version of the student's best work. This project gives students an opportunity to synthesize and reflect on what they have learned in the MLIS program. We invite you to view these projects at:
