The Summer internship for Indigenous peoples in Genomics Canada (SING Canada)
Designed to build Indigenous capactiy and scientific literacy by training undergraduate and graduate students, postdoctoral, and community fellows in the basic of genomics, bioinformatics, and Indigenous and decolonial bioethics.
Our Research Goes Deep
Through collaborative partnerships with local and regional Indigenous communities and multidisciplinary research programs, the University of Alberta aims to excel as an engaging, inclusive leader in decolonial and anti-colonial research, championing Indigenous leadership and self-determination in research and innovation.
The Rupertsland Centre for Métis Research
Serves as an expansive academic research program specifically geared toward Métis issues, including: building provincial and national connections with the Métis community; building research capacity to advance Métis-specific research; and training and employing student researchers.
The Institute of Prairie and Indigenous Archaeology
Supports Indigenous-engaged archaeological research, developing pedagogical approaches to integrating Indigenous ways of knowing and being into archaeological teaching and training, and changing cultural heritage policies in response to the needs of Indigenous communities in western Canada.
Indigenous Research Guide
Provides both Indigenous and non-Indigenous researchers with the tools, information and support needed to conduct ethical and reciprocal research with Indigenous communities.
LEADING THE WAY IN INDIGENOUS RESEARCH EDUCATION
Faculty of Native Studies
This faculty is the leader in educating Indigenous and non-Indigenous students through community engagement, teaching and research focused on the complexity of Indigenous issues and thought.
Supporting Indigenous Language Revitalization (SILR)
In collaboration with the community, SILR focuses on increasing accessibility to language programming and developing resources that aid in revitalizing, maintaining and enhancing the health and vibrancy of Indigenous languages.
Canadian Indigenous Languages and Literacy Development Institute (CILLDI)
For over 20 years, CILLDI has been dedicated to the revitalization of Indigenous languages through documentation, teaching, and literacy. This tri-faculty effort of Arts, Education, and Native Studies supports Indigenous language activists to better protect, preserve, promote, practice and pass on their languages.
