SPH 598: Public Health Practice Experience
SPH 598 Public Health Practice Experience is a six-unit work-integrated learning requirement that includes two components: an Applied Practice Experience (APE) and an Integrative Learning Experience (ILE). This is an immersive placement with an external partner organization.
- When is it offered? In winter and spring/summer terms. Some students can complete SPH 598 in fall term; however, you need to speak to your practice coordinator about this.
- Prerequisites: All core courses and it is recommended to have all electives completed. Students may take up to three additional units at the same time as SPH 598.
- What is the workload? ~ 400 hours over 11-13 weeks. While it is a ~35h/ week placement, the course is six units, so you will not be registered as a full-time student with SPH 598 alone.
- When to take it: SPH 598 Field Practicum is completed in the final term of the degree.
