Emma Wilkins, MPH '10
Principal Consultant
Periwinkle Research & EvaluationResearch Coordinator
Centre for Health Promotion Studies, School of Public HealthIn 2010, Emma Wilkins earned her master of public health degree in health promotion. Wilkins applied to the School of Public health primarily due to the focus on health promotion and the emphasis on practice that the MPH program offered.
Perhaps her deciding factor to attend the School was the support staff at the Centre for Health Promotion Studies who contacted her personally to offer her space in the program.
Since graduation, Wilkins has held positions as research coordinator with both the Alberta Healthy School Community Wellness Fund and, currently, the Ecosystem and Participatory Approaches to Health (Eco-PAtH) research team at the University of Alberta.
Recently, she has embarked on a new venture as the owner and principal consultant for Periwinkle Research + Evaluation, where she provides adaptable and reliable evaluation, research and facilitation services.
"Working in health promotion introduces you to a bit of everything," explains Wilkins. "It exposes you to community engagement, constant learning, advocacy and relationship building. It's not only a great field to work in, but it also prepares you for life in general!"
