Congratulations to Faculty Service Officer Tom Johnson on 40 years of service, and to Electronics Technician Isaac Lank on 25 years of service!

The Psychology Shop, located in the Psychology Wing of the of the Biological Sciences Building, provides technical support services to research laboratories in the areas of equipment maintenance and repair, design and fabrication of apparatus and circuit boards used in human and animal research, instrumentation, lab setup and maintenance, and equipment advising and purchasing.

Projects created by Shop Technicians include custom I/O boards and response devices to present stimuli and collect data from humans and animals, custom mazes, surgical equipment and custom testing equipment. Examples of other Shop projects include controller boards interfaced to touchscreen monitors to control operant chambers for pigeons and rats, custom mazes and behavioral testing apparatus for rats and fish and chickadees, full range of audio and video support and electronic recording for human research including virtual reality and EEG labs.

To support this work, the Shop is well equipped with electronic, machine and woodworking tools, and also maintains an array of multimedia equipment to support research and teaching needs.
