Dayuma Vargas successfully defended her PhD dissertation today. She talked about how university students' engagement predicts their GPA over the course of their first year in university. More importantly for me, she gave me the grounds to ask undergraduate students complaining about their grades in my course whether they have actually done some of the basic behavioural engagement actions like, oh I don't know, reading their required readings...
