Commitment to EDI and Indigenization in Psychology

We are honored to live and work on the ancestral lands of diverse Indigenous peoples, including the Cree, Blackfoot, Métis, Nakota Sioux, Iroquois, Dene, Ojibway/ Saulteaux/Anishinaabe, and Inuit, and many others whose histories, languages, and cultures continue to influence our vibrant community. This land is governed by Treaty 6, and is part of the Metis Nation of Alberta Region 4, in what is colonially known as Edmonton.

The Department of Psychology believes that organizational diversity and excellence go hand-in-hand. We are committed to identifying our limitations as a department in terms of equity, diversity, inclusion, and indigenization, and making actionable changes to overcome these limitations. We want all our constituents to feel welcome, safe, and valued in the core activities of teaching, research, and administration.

As members of the Psychology Department, we are dedicated to educating ourselves, learning from others, and taking the actions required to create accessible, inclusive, equitable, and anti-racist classrooms and work environments.

Sincerely,
Jennifer Passey (Chair of the Psychology EDI Committee)
