The procedure to apply to our Postgraduate Pediatric Medical Education Programs depends on an applicant's citizenship. All of our Postgraduate Pediatric Medical Education programs follow these same procedures. Canadian Medical Graduates and U.S. Medical Graduate Applicants Applying to Subspecialty Programs in Pediatrics
For entrance in July 1, 2019 current PGY2 (completing third year June 30, 2020) or current PGY3 (completing fourth year June 30, 2020) are eligible to apply for a subspecialty position. Applications must be made through Canadian Resident Matching Service (CaRMS). U.S. applicants please review the eligibility information on the CaRMS website.
Alberta International Medical Graduates (AIMG)
Alberta International Medical Graduates are Alberta citizens who have obtained medical training outside of Canada. They should apply through the AIMG Program through CaRMS.
Sponsored Visa Applicants
Visa (international) applicants should apply through their government agency.
International Medical Graduate (IMG) applicants
While the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Alberta welcomes applications from international medical graduates, you must have full funding support, outstanding qualifications and excellent references to be considered. Please see eligibility requirements on CaRMS's site for other application information.
