Partners & Supporters

As a student-run interest group, RMIG works with several organizations with a focus on rural health. Without their financial and educational support, rural medicine would be significantly less prominent at the University of Alberta. It is with their assistance that we are able to promote this dynamic aspect of medical education.

We have the opportunity to work closely with:

  • University of Alberta
  • Office of Rural & Regional Health
  • Alberta Rural Health Professions Action Plan (RhPAP)
The Alberta Rural Health Professions Action Plan (RhPAP) is an independent not-for-profit company funded by Alberta Health. It provides a comprehensive provincial program for the education, recruitment and retention of physicians for rural practice. The RhPAP offers a wide variety of programs and resources to medical students including: rural shadowing, clinical skills workshops, a rural recruitment fair, funding opportunities and the Summer Externship Program.
  • Alberta Medical Association Section of Rural Medicine (ASRM)
The Alberta Medical Association's Rural, Remote, Northern Plan addresses the challenges rural physicians face in rural, remote or northern locations. A membership with the AMA immediately gives you a membership with the Canadian Medical Association.
  • Society of Rural Physicians of Canada (SRPC)
The Society of Rural Physicians of Canada (SRPC) serves as the national voice for Canadian rural physicians. It has a student group with various benefits such as: free membership, discounts to various conferences, access to a national rural elective catalogue and much more
  • Northern Alberta Development Council (NADC)
The Northern Alberta Development Council (NADC) focuses on the development of Northern Alberta's economy. It offers the NADC Medical Student Bursary to those interested in practicing medicine in Northern Alberta.
