Research Day 2019

The 6^th annual CRINA Research Day was held on November 15, 2019, in the Edmonton Clinic Health Academy (ECHA) at the University of Alberta. Research Day showcases the collaborative and innovative cancer research happening in northern Alberta, and provides educational opportunities for trainees. The event was attended by approximately 230 scientists, healthcare professionals and trainees.

This year, for the first time, CRINA introduced concurrent breakout sessions in both the morning and afternoon. Each session included talks by PIs as well as trainees on a particular theme. Session themes were as follows: Genomic Instability, Modelling Cancer, Immunology, Immunotherapy and Oncolytics, Metabolism and Cell Signaling, Clinical Cancer Research, Imaging Cancer, OMICs and Precision Oncology and Data Acquisition, Analytics and Biobanking.

The keynote, "Cancer Epigenetics - From Therapy to Early Detection," was delivered by Dr. Daniel de Carvalho, Senior Scientist at Princess Margaret Cancer Centre. The program also included a poster session where trainees were able to present their work.
