Holodomor Learning Resources

2023 marks ninety years since a dark chapter in human history was written: the Holodomor, a man-made famine that ravaged Ukraine from 1932 to 1933. Now more than ever, awareness and education on this tragic period is critical for younger generations of all backgrounds.

The Holodomor Research and Education Consortium (HREC) is part of the Canadian Institute of Ukrainian Studies and a world leader in Holodomor scholarship.

HREC's website is a rich source of information pertaining to the Holodomor, including witness accounts, an online photo directory, and documents and articles showing the world's response to the starvation.

Years of concentrated research has also resulted in a good number of historically significant and academically sound publications on the topics of the Holodomor and famine and genocide in wider contexts. Below is a select collection of titles we can suggest for those wishing to increase their knowledge of the Holodomor.
