Giving to CIUS

When a community comes together, it can accomplish great things.

In 1976 CIUS was established in response to the needs and desires of the Ukrainian Canadian community—as the second university-based institution in the Western world to specialize in studying and promoting Ukrainian history, culture, and current affairs. The CIUS model emphasizes engagement and dialogue as it embraces a broad interdisciplinary research agenda and community-oriented activities.

Over the last forty-seven years, CIUS has developed rewarding and productive relationships with universities both in Ukraine and globally, partnering on research, publishing projects, and other joint initiatives such as conferences, seminars, and round-table discussions. These accomplishments have been made possible thanks to CIUS’s steadfast and generous donors in our community, who manifested their commitment to Ukrainian and Ukrainian-Canadian studies in the establishment of eighty-six endowed funds based at the University of Alberta. Donors to CIUS have a unique privilege and opportunity to ensure that coming generations can experience and learn from Ukrainian studies. Now more than ever, your financial generosity has the power to enhance research, advocacy, and further development of local, national, and international partnerships, advancing Ukrainian studies in Canada and around the world.

To us, each and every donor is a champion of Ukrainian studies. Your support drives CIUS to continue “building Ukrainian studies for a better future!” To you who believe in the work of the institute and its vital importance in the world today—we are sincerely grateful! Thank you ~ diakuiemo!
