Travel Grants for Ukraine-Based Scholars to Attend ICCEES 2025

ICCEES, in partnership with the Canadian Institute of Ukrainian Studies (CIUS), is committed to supporting Ukrainian scholars and strengthening global scholarship on Ukraine. To this end, we invite applications for ICCEES 2025 Travel Grants to attend the XI ICCEES World Congress, taking place on 21-25 July 2025 at University College London, UK.
A limited number of travel grants up to CA$1,000 will be awarded to scholars currently based in Ukraine or displaced due to war who have an accepted paper or panel participation at ICCEES 2025 and require financial assistance. Grants will be awarded on a competitive basis, with priority given to early-career scholars.
Eligibility Criteria
This initiative is open to scholars who:
- Are currently based in Ukraine or have been displaced due to the war.
- Are affiliated with a Ukrainian research or academic institution.
- Are working on topics related to Ukraine’s history, politics, or culture.
- Have already obtained their PhD or are enrolled in a PhD program (including predoctoral students and postdocs).
- Have an accepted paper or panel participation at ICCEES 2025.
Application Materials
Applicants must submit the following documents:
- Individual paper or panel proposal accepted at ICCEES 2025.
- CV (max. 2 pages) outlining academic background and relevant experience.
- Letter of motivation (max. 1 page) explaining research interests, participation in the Congress, and financial need.
- Confirmation of application submission to ICCEES 2025.
- Budget (with justification).

- Application deadline: April 15, 2025
- Notification of results: Only successful applicants will be notified of the results of this competition. Notifications will be sent within the month of the application.
