Bohdan Nahaylo | Russian aggression against Ukraine: What is at stake?

Bohdan Nahaylo is a British-Ukrainian political analyst, writer, journalist, and broadcaster in Ukraine. He was a researcher for Amnesty International (1978–82), director of the Ukrainian Language Service of Radio Liberty (1989–91), and senior policy advisor for the UNHCR on the CIS region (1994–2013) and its representative in Belarus (1999–2003). From 2014 to 2015 Mr. Nahaylo headed the UN Secretariat’s Department of Political Affairs team in Ukraine. He has been an international project advisor for Democracy Reporting International since May 2016 and was its country representative in Ukraine until December 2017. Currently, he serves as Acting Chief Editor of Kyiv Post.

This lecture is organized by the Contemporary Ukraine Studies Program, a research program of the Canadian Institute of Ukrainian Studies at the University of Alberta (Edmonton). CUSP’s mission is to develop contemporary Ukraine studies in the national Canadian and global intellectual contexts through cross-disciplinary and collaborative research, publishing, community involvement, and other projects that analyze the contemporary situation in Ukraine and within the broader comparative context of European, Transatlantic, Eurasian, Slavic, and post-Soviet studies.
