With over three decades of teaching with Edmonton Catholic Schools, Daria has made many contributions to the classroom and the profession. Daria served on the Teacher Advisory Council for International Languages (Alberta Education), as President of the (then-named) Northern Alberta Ukrainian Teachers Association, and member-at-large for the renamed Ukrainian Teachers’ Association. She has been a presenter at professional development events and conferences, and a team member of resource development projects, including the Bud’mo series of student and teacher resources, sponsored by Alberta Education, as well as the current Bud’mo updates, now in progress. She has also been a developer of units of study (Our Ukrainian Christian Heritage) for religious studies at the secondary level, also currently under revision. Recently, she was honored with the Best Teacher of Ukrainian Award (2019), awarded by Ukraine’s Ministry of Education. In addition to working on revisions and upgrades to resources, Daria volunteers as an ESL instructor for newly arrived Ukrainian immigrants.
