Announcing the next chair of REES

We are happy to announce that Henry An has been appointed chair of the Department of Resource Economics and Environmental Sociology (REES) for a five-year term. He assumes the position on July 1.

Professor An has long been a contributing member of the department, including serving a term as graduate chair. He’s an award-winning educator – with a NACTA Teaching Award of Merit and a spot on the ALES Wall of Fame – in addition to being an expert in the economics of technology adoption. His research interests focus on the factors that drive and hinder adoption, and the economic impact of new technologies. As a strong advocate of interdisciplinary research and as a collaborative faculty member, we look forward to seeing the department flourish under his leadership.

The faculty would also like to thank the current chair of REES, John Parkins, for his dedication to the department as chair since 2019. We wish John all the best in his next role as Dean of the Augustana Faculty and Executive Officer of the Augustana Campus.
