Heather McLeod
Foundation Director + Past Alberta Elks Foundation Representative
Heather joined the Elks in 2007 and has been a member of the Sherwood Park Elks #481 for more than 14 years. During this time, she has held various positions within the Sherwood Park Elks as well as the Alberta Elks Association, including Membership Committee Chair. Heather has held the position of Trustee with the Alberta Elks Foundation since 2018 and in 2021 she was elected as Chairperson and Alberta Elks Foundation Representative for ISTAR.
Having grown up around the Elks, Heather learned early on the importance of being involved in her community and is proud of the incredible work the Elks do. Service organizations such as the Elks are important to the growth and sustainability of our communities, and the various programs they support make a difference in the lives of Albertans.
One of the programs the Alberta Elks Foundation does is TABS for TOTS. This is a program where members collect the pull tabs from beverage containers, and sell them to a scrap dealer, and then use the cash to purchase equipment for hospitals and Health Care Units that cannot get the equipment through the Provincial Government. This program has been expanded over the years to now include any scrap metal that can be recycled. Since 2000 the Elks have donated over $170,000 worth of equipment in Alberta, North Eastern and South Eastern BC, and the Yukon.
