Café Scientifique: Driving Multi-Level Action to Improve Financial Wellbeing
April 30, 2024
Now is the Time to Work Together to Support Financial Wellbeing
More and more people are having difficulties in covering day-to-day expenses, saving money, and paying down debts. The time is now for us to look beyond what people can learn to manage their finances better. We need to look at the root causes of financial problems (e.g., lack of job training; no affordable childcare facilities). We need to have solutions that address the causes and consequences of financial struggles, to allow everyone to enjoy financial wellbeing.
The Financial Wellbeing Café Scientifique was an opportunity to bring people together to talk about how to drive action on financial wellbeing in Canada.
The event included a panel presentation on Taking Intersectoral Action on the Causes of Poverty to Support Financial Wellbeing. In case you missed it the panel recording is available.
The highlights of the event along with information on financial wellbeing, why there is a need to focus on financial wellbeing, and how we can all support action on the topic are available in English and French infosheets.
This virtual event was hosted by the Centre for Healthy Communities, School of Public Health with funding support from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (Reference #: 189249).
