Faculty recognition

Dr. Richard Schulz, Department of Pediatrics, is the recipient of a Humboldt Research Award for his outstanding research contributions. 

Congratulations to the FoMD members who were named to the Clarivate Highly Cited Researchers list. The annual list identifies the select few who have been most frequently cited by their peers over the last decade. In 2020, fewer than 6,200, or about 0.1 per cent, of the world's researchers, in 21 research fields and across multiple fields, have earned this exclusive distinction.

Dr. Andrew Greenshaw, Department of Psychiatry and member of WCHRI and the Neuroscience and Mental Health Institute (NMHI), received the Dr. Myer Horowitz Book Award from Child, Adolescent and Family Mental Health (CASA) for his outstanding contributions to the field.

Dr. Richard Lehner, Department of Pediatrics and member of WCHRI and the Alberta Diabetes Institute (ADI), was awarded the Canadian Institutes of Health Research’s (CIHR) Outstanding Peer Review Award. 

Department of Emergency Medicine

The Department of Emergency Medicine is pleased to congratulate the following award winners from their department:

Dr. David Ha was awarded the Terry Sosnowski Memorial Teacher of the Year Award, named after the medical educator and founding residency program director.

Dr. Rebeccah Rosenblum was awarded the Emergency Physician of the Year – Urban Award. 

Dr. Brian Rowe received a Canadian Association of Emergency Physicians Honorary Life Membership Award.

School of Dentistry

Paulette Dahlseide, ‘14 DHS and citizen of Métis Nation Alberta, was awarded the Alberta Graduate Excellence Scholarship for Indigenous students, becoming the first dental hygiene graduate student to receive the award. Dahlseide will begin her graduate studies program in January 2021 under the supervision of doctors Sharon Compton and Minn Yoon. Learn more.

 Dr. Ava Chow received the W.W. Wood Award from the Association of Faculties of Dentistry of Canada.

Ronna Lozano was recognized with a PEAK Support Staff Award from the School of Dentistry. 

Dr. Sharon Compton was honoured with the Bulyea Cup Award, the School of Dentistry’s highest honour.
