Faculty Awards
Peter Brindley, Department of Critical Care, has earned the Intensive Care Society Senior Fellowship, awarded by Her Royal Highness Princess Anne of Edinburgh.
Louanne Keenan, '75 DenH, Director of Community Engagement Research, is the winner of a 2018 Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Award.
Carlos Flores-Mir, School of Dentistry, has been awarded the Robert L. Boyd Biomedical Research Award from the American Association of Orthodontists.
Joanne Norum, Department of Emergency Medicine, has received the Emergency Medicine Outstanding Teacher Award.
Aws Alherbish, Department of Medicine, has been named Emergency Medicine's Outstanding Teacher for an off-service rotation.
Students & Trainees
Michael Bording-Jorgensen, Department of Physiology, has received the University of Alberta Graduate Student Teaching Award.
Brad Necyk, Department of Psychiatry, has been awarded the Edmonton Artists' Trust Fund Award from the Edmonton Arts Council. He is a multimedia artist whose practice engages with medicine and mental health. He finished a residency with AHS Transplant Services in 2015-16, currently works as an artist/researcher in a project on Head and Neck Cancer, and is completing an arts-based, research-creation PhD in Psychiatry.
Nada Alshumaimeri, Department of Biochemistry, is among the 3MT finalists heading to the 2018 UAlberta Final on April 11th.

Jill Schneider, class of 2020, earned first place for her three-minute talk entitled "Diabetes Wrecks Cardiac Mitochondria."

Teresa Li, class of 2018, earned second place for her three-minute talk entitled "Frail Surgical Patients Readmitted More."

Jimmy Kang, class of 2021, earned third place for his three-minute talk entitled "In Search of the Holy Grail: Tissue Engineering a Heart Valve."

Patrick Ciechanski, class of 2021, earned the 'People's Choice' award for his talk entitled "Stimulating the Surgeon's Brain."
Leonard Tow Humanism in Medicine - due April 6, 2018
Nominations are now being accepted for the 2018 Leonard Tow Humanism in Medicine (Faculty) Award. This award is presented by the Arnold P. Gold Foundation, as an extension of the Gold Humanism Honor Society.
