Medical students at the University of Alberta are organizing Run without Borders, a fundraiser that supports Doctors without Borders, an international medical humanitarian organization which provides medical relief to people in more than 70 countries worldwide.
"It's a great organization to support and it's something we're all very passionate about," said Kirles Bishay, one of the student organizers.
The run is set for Saturday, Sept 22 at Emily Murphy Park. Participants can do a 10 kilometre run, a five kilometre run or walk, an individual or family three kilometre walk. Entry fees are posted on the website and all the money raised through those fees goes to the charity.
"We're so used to being in such a rich society that we often forget there are other places that aren't as privileged as we are," said Bishay.
