International Summer School
Please note: For summer 2025, this program is only open to students registered in the Alberta International School and Beijing Sport University.
The Faculty of Kinesiology, Sport, and Recreation's International Summer School Program is an interactive program where students will participate in a variety of activities that will give them an experience of a lifetime.
Students will attend lectures from a variety of disciplines that are given by Faculty professors who are experts in their fields. Topics include:
- sport tourism
- exercise physiology
- sport psychology
- recreation and sport management
- health-related physical activity promotion
- adapted physical activity
- coaching
Students will have the opportunity to participate in and try new sports and activities, both in our world-class facilities, but also throughout Edmonton and Alberta.
- Activities such as rock climbing, swimming, yoga, board games and more
- Opportunity to meet and interact with U of A students
- Students will experience a number of cultural and sport-related excursions and interactive field trips such as but not limited to:
- A professional football game: Edmonton Elks
- Parks and outdoor excursions in the River Valley
- Visit one of the world's largest shopping malls: West Edmonton Mall
- Enjoy a Day Trip to local Elk Island National Park
- Experience the diverse cultures and cuisines of Edmonton, Alberta at Heritage Days
- and much more!
Program Expectations
Students will be required to put a $500 CAD non-refundable deposit down to secure their spot in the program.
This price includes:- Accommodation
- Meals
- Various activity costs ( i.e. tickets, supplies, etc.)
Deadlines & Requirements
- Registration deadline (includes $500 non-refundable deposit to secure your spot) TBD
- Registrants must be over the age of 18 to participate
- Program is limited to registered students at the Alberta International School or Beijing Sport University only
- Final payment is due on TBD
- Students are responsible for booking their own flights
What you should bring
- Comfortable walking shoes
- Lock (to keep your belongings safe when on activities and excursions)
- Bathing suit
- Hat
- Sunscreen
- Spending money
