Dr.Pyke

Since joining the Faculty of Kinesiology, Sport, and Recreation (KSR) as Dean in 2022, I have had the pleasure of connecting with our students, faculty, and staff, experiencing firsthand the dedication and supportive community that makes KSR truly exceptional.

In the Faculty of KSR, we take pride in offering students a unique and immersive educational experience. Our interdisciplinary undergraduate programs in kinesiology, and  recreation, sport and tourism provide hands-on learning and prepare students for impactful careers in fields that promote health, movement, and quality of life. As one of the few faculties in the College of Health Sciences to welcome students directly from high school, we are dedicated to fostering a vibrant learning environment that connects students with award-winning researchers, cutting-edge facilities, and caring, inclusive support.

With over 60 years of excellence, KSR’s legacy of innovation and research continues to drive our mission to engage in transformative multidisciplinary research and teaching that advances how we understand and participate in physical activity and leisure. Through our programs, students engage in meaningful experiential learning, from in-field placements to community service, and participate in impactful research across areas including adapted physical activity, health psychology, and exercise physiology.

Our graduate programs extend KSR’s commitment to developing future leaders and innovators. Through our Doctoral and Master’s programs—including the MSc, MA, and Master of Coaching—graduate students engage in specialized, impactful research and benefit from an individualized approach to learning. Our online graduate certificates provide working professionals with an opportunity to enhance skills and expand knowledge to advance career goals.  Our certificates can also ladder into our course based masters degrees. Each program is designed to support students’ unique goals, equipping them with the expertise and skills to succeed in higher education, professional practice, and diverse career paths.

As we mark our 60th anniversary and look to the future, I am excited to advance the Faculty’s strategic plan Inspiring Movement, which, alongside our research and educational goals, highlights our commitment to fostering community leadership and creating an environment where people can thrive.

Thank you for your interest in KSR. We look forward to welcoming you to our community.
