Digital Research Grant Advice

Digital Research Infrastructure (DRI) is increasingly a critical aspect of all research disciplines and IST Research Computing is here to help researchers make the best case for digital resources needed for their research.

Research Computing’s grant advisor helps researchers:

  • Develop DRI requests and proposals;
  • Identify resources and expertise for Advanced Research Computing (ARC);
  • Identify digital resources needed to enact data management plans;
  • Describe digital workflows and computing resources accurately;
  • Justify DRI needs and align them with the proposal’s goals, aims, and expected outcomes; and
  • Consider the appropriateness and sustainability of the proposed DRI plans.

Services provided:

  • DRI grant consultation;
  • Identify and describe available national resources;
  • Internal review of DRI components in applications;
  • Editing and fact checking DRI elements; and
  • For team grants, join the “grant writing team” and add value applicable to DRI.

Steps involved:

Where to start

Book a DRI grant consultation for projects that require computing resources that are too large or complex for a laptop or desktop computer. In the first meeting, we will discuss your digital workflows, identify DRI needs, identify appropriate DRI resources, and plan for next steps.

Grant Development

Next steps may include support for accessing nationally available resources, tailoring DRI requests to fit a sponsor, and budgeting for computing infrastructure. When applicable, researchers may be connected with IT and ARC expertise available locally, regionally, and nationally.

Writing Assistance

Support is available to accurately describe, justify, and integrate DRI elements in your grant applications. This may involve internal review with feedback for the DRI components, copyediting, and fact checking.
