Initiatives
Google Workspace Changes
Google has introduced a new license and storage model, which no longer provides free, unlimited storage for higher education. As a result, this project is looking at ways to reduce the university's reliance on Google Workspace as its primary data storage solution. This entails identifying better data management practices and building out a more comprehensive data storage ecosystem.
Research Data Storage Service
The research data storage service provides a powerful on-site data storage solution for those conducting research at the University of Alberta. This repository provides large volumes for long-term storage of research files, including videos, photos, documentation and specialty file types.
Building Wireless Modernization
The Building Wireless Modernization project launched to upgrade the university's wireless service and its infrastructure. This project represents significant progress in our continuous efforts to enhance the wireless experience at the U of A and invest in the future.
Information Security Policy Redevelopment
The University of Alberta is updating its Information Technology Security Policy, bringing it in alignment with Technology with Purpose and the broader SHAPE strategic plan to foster a resilient, secure, and adaptive environment that enables world class teaching, learning, research, and administrative functions. Our goal is to ensure a cybersecurity framework that meets the demands of a rapidly changing digital landscape, while empowering the university community to achieve its strategic objectives.
