What is Covered
Covers loss or damage for shipments made to and from the U of A by common carrier (i.e. truck, air or vessel) of goods/and/or merchandise and/or equipment of each and every description consisting principally of, but not limited to: Printed Material, Desks, furniture, computer Equipment, Research Equipment, shipped by U of A and for which the U of A is responsible to insure.
The policy insures Domestic Shipments (Canada & U.S) in excess of $25,000 per shipment and all other Foreign Shipments.
What is not Covered
- Dangerous Goods
- Goods shipped by mail
- Institute chemical, biological samples, bio-chemical, electromagnetic weapons and cyber attack
- Goods damaged from improper or inadequate packing
Please Note
The U of A self-insures Domestic Shipments (Canada & U.S) up to $25,000 per shipment. For any shipment in excess of $25,000, the faculty or department or SMS needs to report the shipment to the Office of Insurance & Risk Assessment.
Where required, the Office of Insurance & Risk Assessment may suggest that the faculty or department purchase its own coverage through the carrier.
Deductible
An internal deductible may apply to each faculty, department or ancillary unit regardless of the amount of the claim. Whether or not a deductible amount applies will be determined based on the reason(s) for loss(es) and consideration of the loss(es) as preventable or non-preventable.
