(Edmonton) Engineering students are gearing up for GEER Week. Along with the all-time favourite activities like dodgeball, tug of war, scavenger hunt, toboggan races and a movie night, students will be donating blood, collecting canned goods for the Campus Food Bank, and raising money for the Stollery Children's Hospital.
"We want to change our image. We want to push our philanthropic efforts," said Maha Adnan, a third-year chemical engineering student, vice-president external relations with the Engineering Students' Society (ESS).
This year the ESS is inviting all faculties to join one of the 10 teams registered for GEER Week. Here's how it works: throughout the week, teams will be competing against each other in various activities put together by the ESS and engineering student clubs for a grand prize. The winning team will be determined by the total amount of points scored in the activities, and the money raised will be donated to the Stollery Children's Hospital.
The list of the GEER Week events and the registration link can be found here.
The GEER Week kicks off Jan. 14 with a tech display at the Telus World of Science, where the Faculty of Engineering discipline clubs, paired up with fairy tale-themed displays, will showcase their projects and initiatives.
