Fem+ Engineering Mentorship Program
Applications are now open!
We are excited that the Fem+ Engineering Mentorship Program is now open for applications for the 2024/2025 year!
Fem+ is a 7-month mentorship experience for women, non-binary and 2SLGBTQ+ high school students interested in exploring the possibilities within engineering. Whether you're certain about pursuing engineering, considering it among multiple programs or just want to know more before making a decision, Fem+ is designed to help you explore what engineering is and if it might be the best fit for you!
Our goal is to help students explore the possibilities in engineering and university for them, not to perpetuate myths and stereotypes that may discourage students from pursuing their goals. Mentors help us reach that by inspiring and educating our participants about the potential fields they could go into one day, and guide their mentees through the process of deciding whether or not engineering might be a good fit for them.
Mentees receive one-on-one guidance about the university application process, the transition from high school to university and what engineering is like. We provide spaces for a diverse range of engineering students and professionals to share their experiences.

Mentors
Are you a current University of Alberta engineering student? We are seeking passionate mentors to volunteer their time and share their experiences with our high school participants. As a mentor, you'll have the opportunity to present your journey in engineering, answer questions and provide valuable insights into these fields.
By sharing your personal experiences, challenges and triumphs, you'll help demystify engineering and offer guidance and insight to your mentees. If this sounds like a good fit for you, apply to become a Fem+ mentor!
Being a Fem+ mentor entails some of the listed responsibilities:
- Contacting mentees once a month (at minimum)
- Helping with events (in-person or virtual)
- Writing short pieces for the Fem+ monthly newsletter (profile on yourself, writing about your discipline, etc.)
Applications for Fem+ mentors close on Sunday, September 22, 2024, at 11:59 PM (MT).

- See what university is like, what engineering is like and whether it is a good fit
- Meet others interested in engineering through Discord, in-person or virtual events like Q&As and social events
Applications for Fem+ mentees close on Sunday, October 6, 2024, at 11:59 PM (MT).
