Entrance Requirements
- Applicants must provide proof of English Language Proficiency (international applicants only)
- All applicants must meet the normal standards for entry to the Faculty of Graduate & Postdoctoral Studies (GPS; formerly FGSR) as specified by GPS
Canadian Academic Requirements
International Academic Requirements - In addition to the recommendation of the Departments of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences and Physics, applicants are recommended for admission subject to approval of the Integrated Energy Geoscience (IEG) program.
- Applicants should hold a degree in an earth science subject
Additional Regulations
- Students cannot use IEG program admission to transfer to the thesis-based MSc or PhD in the Earth and Atmospheric Sciences program
- Progression into the Winter, Spring, Summer, and second Fall term is contingent on attainment of a satisfactory GPA (2.7 as defined by GPS (formerly FGSR)) at the end of the Fall Term.
- Students will not be allowed to take the Independent Research Project (IEG 601A/B) until they have successfully completed all other required and optional courses (total of *33) and achieved a GPA that meets the standards set by GPS (formerly FGSR) (2.7 GPA).
Degree Requirements
- Students must take 8 (*3) core courses and 5 (*3) optional courses.
- The core courses include the Seminar course (IEG 610) and the Independent Research Course (IEG 601A/B; *12). All core courses are generally designated by the prefix IEG.
- The optional courses will be offered by the Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences (prefix EAS), the Department of Physics (prefix GEOPH) (see Appendix C). The optional courses chosen will be decided by discussion between the applicant and the Director of the IPG program.
- The program, summarized in Appendix C, requires a minimum of *45 (15 *3 single-term courses or equivalent), that includes the following:
- Eight core courses (*3)
- Five optional courses (*3),
- All courses with the exception of the IEG 610 seminar are graded A through F. The IEG 610 seminar is graded pass-fail.
- In addition, all students must complete the mandatory GPS (formerly FGSR) INT D 710: Ethics and Academic Citizenship.
- Students will be required to complete the Indigenous Canada MOOC offered through Coursera before they will be permitted to register for courses. Proof of completion will be required.
- Students may be required to take additional courses as determined by the IEG Program Director.
