13th Chinese Internet Research Conference
On 27-28 May 2015, the China Institute will host the Chinese Internet Research Conference (CIRC) at the University of Alberta in Edmonton. This annual gathering of the world's top researchers on the social, political, cultural, and economic effects of the Internet in China - held at several distinguished universities in the past - will meet for the first time ever in Canada this year. Conference themes pertain to the topics of "(Un)civil society" and "Chinese Internet or Internet in China?" Co-organizers of CIRC, Ashley Esarey (University of Alberta, Political Science) and Min Jiang (University of North Carolina at Charlotte, Communication) intend to publish research presented at the conference in a special issue of the International Journal of Communication.
