Open your mind to the directions your degree can take you. Our Speaker Series events are designed to help you expand your employment outlook. At each event, you will:

  • Hear from professionals who graduated with your degree or work in your field of interest.
  • Learn tips and strategies about career and work search based on the lived successes and failures of professionals.
  • Gain perspective on your skills, knowledge, and abilities and how they apply to the workplace.
  • Open doors to opportunities by talking with professionals who can get you connected.

Each event will include a panel discussion with an opportunity to ask questions. All Speaker Series events are free. Registration is required to access virtual event links.

Our Speakers

Ali Greenslade

Climate Engagement Coordinator and Policy Analyst | Métis Nation of Alberta

Ali Greenslade was born and raised in Métis Nation Region 4 and Treaty 6 territory where she spent much of her early years enjoying family time at Pigeon Lake. Ali went on to study environmental science at the University of Alberta where she learned about the environmental crisis and the various ties to socioeconomic systems. After jumping around the hospitality and waste management industries Ali applied to be a part of the inaugural Master of Arts in Climate Action Leadership program which she graduated from in 2024. Ali has worked for the Otipemisiwak Métis Government of Alberta for the last two and a half years as a Climate Engagement Coordinator and Policy Analyst. Ali is keenly interested in exploring the intersections involved in climate adaptation and enjoys connecting with the Métis community within Alberta to find creative avenues to promote climate resilience and UNDRIP.

Marc Baxter

Environment and Sustainability Lead, Electricity Sustainability and Innovation Government of Alberta

Marc is currently Environment and Sustainability Lead for the Electricity Sustainability and Innovation branch within Alberta’s Ministry of Affordability and Utilities where he advises on innovative policy solutions to meet Alberta's environmental and emissions objectives for the provincial electricity system. Prior to joining government in 2022, Marc worked for six years as Renewables Program Lead at the Municipal Climate Change Action Centre, a partnership of the Government of Alberta, Alberta Municipalities, and Rural Municipalities of Alberta which provides funding, technical assistance, and education to municipalities to help them lower energy costs, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and improve climate resilience. In this role, Marc led the design, development, and delivery of a variety of renewable energy programs for both micro-generation and community generation which resulted in the installation of over 25 MW of solar PV in Alberta. Marc holds a BA in Environmental Studies and a Certificate in Sustainability from the University of Alberta, a LEED Green Associate accreditation, and a Management and Supervision Certificate from MacEwan University.

Stephanie Neufeld

Watershed Manager | EPCOR

Steph has been a Watershed Manager with EPCOR for 15 years where her focus is on drinking water source water protection and managing the cumulative effects of EPCOR’s operations on the North Saskatchewan River. Steph completed her B.Sc. and M.Sc, in Environmental Ecology at the University of Alberta. Her M.Sc. degree investigated the effects of land use change on water quality and aquatic insect communities in Alberta streams. After graduation, she worked in consulting as an Aquatic Biologist for several years before starting her career with EPCOR. Along with her passion for watersheds, Steph is an avid ultramarathoner and IronMan distance athlete and a mom of two young daughters.

Edwin Edou

Technical Specialist on Climate Change and Energy Policy | UNDP (United Nations Development Programme)

With over 7 years of professional experience, Edwin A. Edou is a Technical Specialist on Climate Change and Energy Policy at the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), where he is stationed in Viet Nam to support its 2050 net-zero energy transition on a wide range of policy topics, such as renewable energy, energy efficiency, e-mobility, and carbon markets. Primarily, this entails working with the Government of Viet Nam, country members of the International Partners Group (IPG), Global Financial Alliance for Net Zero (GFANZ), development partners on implementing Viet Nam’s UW $15.5 bn Just Energy Transition Partnership (JETP). In his role, Edwin supports policy development, technical assistance, and facilitating investment projects. He is driven towards supporting 1.5°C compatible future, where both people and the planet can thrive.
