Dr. Volodomyr Viatrovych, Director of the Ukrainian Institute of National Memory
On Wednesday 5 September 2018 the Canadian Institute of Ukrainian Studies hosted a presentation by Dr. Volodomyr Viatrovych, Director of the Ukrainian Institute of National Memory. Dr. Viatrovych was on a speaking tour of Canada, and CIUS used the opportunity to organize a talk for him on campus during his short stay in Edmonton. In his remarks, given in English, he described the work of the Institute that he heads and the official policy on history by focusing on the campaign to De-Communize Ukraine, which sparked many controversies in Ukraine and abroad. Dr, Volodymyr Kravchenko, Director of CIUS's Contemporary Ukraine Studies Program, moderated the discussion. That evening Dr. Viatrovych gave a public lecture at the Ukrainian Youth Unity Complex in north Edmonton.
