An interesting, recently observed phenomenon in Ukraine is increasing involvement in the public sector by persons from the business world. Their education, along with their success in business, are both playing a more important role in the country's readiness and capacity for change. What is the data on such change, who are the business persons in question, and what administrative, social, and economic reforms do they appear so far to be championing?

Dr. Sofia Opatska is Dean and professor at Lviv Business School, where she has been on faculty since the inception, in 2008, of this highly innovative, and reform-minded institution. Dr. Opatska's doctoral studies were in International Economic Relations (Ivan Franko National University, Lviv), followed by post-doc studies or internships at such Management Schools as Bled (U Michigan), Warsaw School of Economics, Wharton, and China Europe International School (Hong Kong University of Science and Technologies.) She has 13 years of management experience as Director of MBA programs at Kyiv Mohyla Business School, and at Galnaftogaz Corporate University. She is a founder and supervisor of the Global Shapers project in Lviv, and an Advisory Board member at the Emaus Center.
