How to Apply
Eligibility
In order to be considered for the IVSP, you must:
Be registered in a degree program at a university outside of Canada.
Have permission from your university to participate in the IVSP.
Speak a language other than English as your primary language.
(For example: TOEFL score below 90 iBT OR IELTS score below 6.5 OR no English language proficiency test score)

How to Apply for the IVSP
- Consult the Program Information for the IVSP
- Ensure you understand which academic courses are available for IVSP students
- Carefully read the University of Alberta IVSP Application Guide. The guide includes step-by-step instructions to help you navigate the new “Launchpad” online applications for the IVSP.
- Prepare the following documents:
- All post-secondary transcripts translated to English
- Recommendation Letter
- IVSP Participation Consent Form
- IELTS or TOEFL English Proficiency Test Results (Optional)
