TCC Staff

The TCC team consists of graduate students and faculty members in the Statistics Division of the Department of Mathematical & Statistical Sciences. Our graduate students work with faculty members and statisticians to constantly hone their consulting skills and provide the best possible solutions to the statistical problems we encounter. These faculty members include the current director of the TCC, Professor Linglong Kong; members who used to be directors K.C. Carriere, N.G.N. Prasad (In Retirement), and Bei Jiang

Na Zhang, Consultant

I am a Phd student in Statistics.

Meichen Liu, Consultant

I am a Phd student in Statistics. My research interests include Functional Data Analysis (FDA), Casual Inference and their statistical applications in medical sciences, social sciences etc. I really appreciate working with professionals from other disciplines, and applying the theoretical knowledge acquired in class to real world problems and data sets.

Haihan Xie, Consultant

I am a Ph.D. student in Statistics. My research interests include online learning, differential privacy, optimization, and statistical inference. Besides that, I like getting in touch with researchers from different areas and discussing general statistical learning methods. I am proficient in statistical software R and SPSS.

Former Consultants

Berhanu Wubie, Consultant

I am a graduate student (PhD) in Statistics, my research interest focuses mainly on statistical methods like but not limited to Multivariate Analysis, Design and Analysis of Experiments, Survival Analysis and Linear Mixed Models. I have some experience in consulting researchers from various fields of study to mention few of them medicine, dentistry and public health. I like consulting and am happy to work with professionals from other disciplines, as it is one way to apply the theoretical knowledge acquired in class to real world problems and data set. I am familiar with statistical software R, SPSS and a bit of SAS and STATA.

Yi Liu, Consultant

I am a graduate student in Statistical machine learning. It is really a great pleasure to help other researchers in various fields since I could see how things works in different applications.

Katie Burak, Consultant

I am a PhD student in Statistics. My research interests include concentration inequalities, regression and nonasymptotic statistics. I enjoy working with researchers to help with their projects from collecting data and designing an experiment to analyzing and interpreting data.

Matthew Pietrosanu, Consultant

I am PhD student in Statistical Machine Learning with a background in pure mathematics and statistics. Through the TCC and my private consulting work, I have widely collaborated with researchers in public health, medical science, nursing, linguistics, library science, finance, and beyond! I have particular experience with meta-analyses, statistical reviews, survey analysis, and instrument validation. I am passionate about statistics education, academic writing, data visualization, and tackling new research problems. My graduate research focuses on Bayesian models for analyzing tensor-valued medical imaging data. As of spring 2022, I am focusing my consulting work outside of the TCC and its regular sessions.

Wei Tu, Consultant

I am pursuing my PhD in Statistics. My research interests include Neuroimaging Data Analysis (NDA), Bayesian Network, Casual Inference and statistical applications in neuroscience, medicine, genetics, psychology, etc. I enjoy working with researchers in other disciplines, and use data and statistical modelling to answer research questions.
