Committees
The Black Youth Mentorship and Leadership Program follows the below governance structure:
Steering Committee
The Steering Committee provides oversight to the program and provides strategic direction and leadership to ensure that the program meets its envisioned outcomes to improve the economic outcomes, community belonging, and leadership skills as well as foster a positive cultural identity for Black Youth. The Steering Committee is a collaborative team consisting of Faculty members within the University of Alberta, Project Partners and the Program Lead. This committee oversees requests for and approvals of major changes in the Program and advises on key performance indicators and budgets.

Advisory Committee
The Advisory Committee is a collaborative team consisting of Community Leaders, Students, Youths and Educators. The Advisory Committee informs the strategic direction and leadership of the Program, to ensure that it meets its envisioned objectives to improve the economic outcomes, community belonging, and leadership skills as well as foster a positive cultural identity for Black Youth. The Advisory Committee will help in planning major events and facilitating workshops and will ensure that the BYMLP achieves its envisioned goals.

Admissions Committee
The Admissions Committee is a diverse team consisting of Faculty members, Students, Community Leaders, Youths, Educators, Partners and the Program Lead. The Admissions Committee is in charge of selecting from the pool of applicants and admit the most suitable candidates into the Program.
Community & Engagement Committee
The Community & Engagement Committee is a collaborative team that builds and fosters positive awareness of the Program. It consists of Faculty members, Students, Community leaders, Youths, Educators, Partners and the Program Lead that are responsible for making recommendations for approval by the Steering Committee outlining a consistent and community engagement process.
