The International Research Training Group in Membrane Biology holds a variety of weekly, annual and visiting speaker seminars and symposiums.
IRTG/Membrane Protein Disease Research Group Weekly Seminars are held every Thursday morning in Classroom F-2J4.02 Walter Mackenzie Health Sciences Centre. Speakers include graduate students, Postdoctoral fellows, invited guest speakers (University of Alberta and International) and IRTG/MPDRG Principal Investigators.
Membrane Protein Journal Club / IRTG Journal Clubis held Tuesdays in Room 4-70 MSB at 12:00pm. Presenters usually give a literature review of a paper that focuses on membranes or membrane proteins. IRTG Canada/IRTG 1830 Germany Joint Symposiums are held annually in either Germany or Alberta. The meetings are designed for investigators and student researchers from both groups to partner in discussion and research initiatives. Our next meeting will take place in Germany on September 1-5, 2019
Career Skills Development Series Seminar (Biochem 660)This course will help develop and enhance skillsfor graduate students beyond graduate school to prepare them for employment situations. Each session will be presented as a seminar by one or two invited speakers, followed by a round-table discussion. The Career skills Seminar will be held on Tuesdays from 9AM - 12PM once every month. Classroom hours in this course count toward FGSR-mandated Professional Development hours (8 h/ yr). Attendance for the IRTG trainees is mandatory. This is a course for credit, however all trainees in the Department of Biochemistry and MPDRG are invited to attend.
