Introduction to Statistics with Linguistic data
Dr. Antti Arppe is offering a 3 week condensed course Spring 2013. The course starts May 5 and runs daily, 1:30 to 3:55, ending May 24. The Department of Linguistics is offering this for both undergraduate and graduate students. It is applicable to many disciplines, including but not limited to, students from the Departments of Modern Languages/Cultural Studies and East Asian Studies.

Introduction to probability theory, formulation and testing of hypotheses, sampling, and basic descriptive and analytical statistical methods for linguistic data derived from e.g. spoken and written corpora, elicitation, questionnaires and experiments, and language typoloogy.
