What initially drew you to this area of study?
I love and am passionate about coaching.
What achievement, accomplishment or moment are you most proud of from your time in the program?
Personal growth, working with the Golden Bears volleyball team and being recognized as an assistant coach in our national championship run during the 2021/22 season.
What was the biggest challenge you faced?
Balancing school, coaching and family life.
How did you stay motivated and who helped you keep going when things got tough?
My motivation came from my family, specifically my son. I’m trying to set a good example of pushing even when things get tough.
What advice would you give to a student thinking of entering the program?
Embrace the challenges that come with the program. Be willing to be your own biggest critic. Critique your work, your approach and your practice. It will be important for your growth.
What have you learned about yourself, and how will you use this going forward?
I have learned that I don't know enough. However, through my action research I learned ways of improving myself and increasing my knowledge.
What comes next for you in your career/academic journey?
I want to continue growing my coaching knowledge in order to eventually transition to coaching at a higher level very soon.
