In Memoriam: Ross MacNab
Jocelyn Love - 23 March 2021
The Faculty of Kinesiology, Sport, and Recreation is saddened by the passing of former Faculty professor Ross MacNab. Ross passed away peacefully in his sleep at 86 on March 11, 2021. Ross was a champion athlete, dedicated husband and father, a friend whose generosity and warmth shone brightest when friends needed it most.
Ross was a professor in the Faculty of Kinesiology, Sport, and Recreation from 1963 until his retirement in 1991. Ross was a passionate teacher, a mentor to many students, and served in key roles for both the 1978 Commonwealth Games and 1983 Universiade Games (as VP of Organizing Committee).

A Fieldhouse For The Future - The success of the joint University-City bid for the 1983 Universiade provided a welcome opportunity to obtain funding for such a facility. Money for the fieldhouse, the cost of which is to be about $23 million. Ross Macnab, vice president (University) of the 1983 Games and a member of the fieldhouse planning committee was excited about the wide variety of uses to which the fieldhouse can be put after the Games, and he points out that the idea of a fieldhouse for the campus did not originate from considerations associated with the Games.
