The 2018 KinGames University of Alberta committee
The 2018 Kin Games student-led organizing committee was recognized for their achievements and success of executing a massive, three-day, multi-sport event on the University of Alberta campus in late March. Members of the 18-person committee-which comprises mostly undergraduate Faculty of Kinesiology, Sport, and Recreation students-were presented special plaques at the May 23rd Faculty Council. Also sitting in the committee are Faculty graduate students and alumni, and undergraduate students from the Faculty of Science and Faculty of Rehab Medicine.
Kin Games is the largest student-run undergraduate Kinesiology conference in Canada since its inception in 2001. This year's event, which took place on both UAlberta's North and South campuses, saw over 500 kinesiology students and 100 volunteers from 32 different schools across Canada come together for three days of events, competition, networking and learning.
"I am so incredibly proud of what our all-student committee was able to achieve for this year's event," says Mark Ryan, 2018 Kin Games Head Coordinator and current Bachelor of Kinesiology/Bachelor of Education student. "Being able to bring together the 'KINmunity' for such a positive and accessible event, all the while showing off why we are proud of the University of Alberta and our Faculty was truly an amazing opportunity for us all."
Faculty of Kinesiology, Sport, and Recreation Dean, Kerry Mummery adds, "I want to thank and congratulate each of the committee members for a very successful Kin Games. This team has set a new standard for what the Games are and should be."

Kin Games is held every year (since 2001) and is hosted by a Kinesiology faculty, school or unit at a particular post-secondary institution in Canada. The conference aims to create an accessible KIN Games environment that thrives on student diversity, promotes student health and well-being, and fosters meaningful peer-to-peer connections. This year marked the second time in institution history that Kin Games was held at the University of Alberta (first time was in 2005). The 2019 Kin Games will be held at the University of Toronto.
