Convocation Spotlight: Brittany Priel

As Brittany Priel looks back on her time in the Faculty of Kinesiology, Sport, and Recreation, she fondly remembers the semester she spent in New Zealand. Now that she’s graduated, she hopes to fit in some travelling before returning to pursue graduate studies.
What drew you to the BARST program?
I grew up around sport my whole life.
What are your go-to spots on campus?
The Sky Lounge in the Education building and Rutherford Library.
How did you stay motivated when things got tough?
I kept reminding myself what career I was working towards and wanted for myself.
Were you able to access financial support throughout your studies?
Yes! Rupertsland Institute helped fund my education.
What experiences had the most positive impact on your learning?
I went away for a semester abroad to New Zealand! It was the best decision I've ever made.
What advice would you give to a student thinking of entering this program?
The program covers a broad range of topics, so be prepared to explore various areas that include event planning, health and wellness, facility management, tourism, etc.!
What comes next for you?
I hope to travel for a little while, but the long-term goal will definitely be pursuing further education such as a master’s degree, and potentially getting involved in being part of a research team!
