Eligibility

  • Superior Academic Standing (equivalent to a GPA of 3.5 or greater)
  • Awarded alternately between the Department of History and Classics and the Department of Political Science
  • Nominee is studying Canadian history OR Canadian government and politics
  • Awarded on the basis of superior academic standing (equivalent to a GPA of 3.5 or greater)
  • Awarded on the basis of research potential
  • In even-numbered years, this scholarship is awarded to a nominee in the Department of History and Classics; in odd-numbered years, this scholarship is awarded to a nominee in the Department of Political Science
  • In the event that a nominee cannot be found in the specified department, the scholarship may be awarded to a nominee registered in the other department or may not be awarded that year
  • In nominating a nominee for the scholarship, the departments may take financial need into consideration
  • Open to Canadian citizens.
  • Open to permanent residents.
  • Open to foreign nationals holding Canadian study permits.
  • Open to applicants in doctoral programs.
  • Open to applicants in masters programs.
  • Open to applicants in course-based study programs.
  • Open to applicants in thesis-based study programs.


How to apply

By nomination only. Students should contact their department for details on their application process. Nominations are submitted to GPS by the Department (or Faculty). The Graduate Scholarship Committee makes the final decision.
