Japanese Placement Test
All students who learned Japanese formally or informally somewhere other than the University of Alberta must take a placement test before registering. The placement test consists of:
-
written test (90 minutes; online)
-
oral interview and consultation (via Zoom)
When you are ready to take the test, please fill out this form. You will receive the link to the test site. The registration to the test site will require a CCID. After you have completed the online test, meet the Japanese Language Coordinator on Zoom for an oral interview and consultation. All the test information, including the interview/consultation session schedule, is available on the test site. Please note that it may take one week or so to get the result of the placement test, so please do not wait until the last minute.
For inquiries, please contact the Japanese Language Coordinator (wdavis1@ualberta.ca).
