Academic Integrity
There are simple ways to build integrity into the classroom and demonstrate its importance to both you and your students. While students, faculty, and administration need to be informed about the Code of Student Behaviour, it is beneficial to discuss why we hold ourselves to those standards through academic integrity.

Change Health Community Program (CHCP)
The Change Health Community Program (CHCP) is partnering with the Office of the Dean of Students to provide first-year students with healthy and active living skills and resources to thrive at the U of A. Students will participate in a cooking class to learn practical and healthy meal preparation. This will be followed by a workshop from campus partners such as the University Health Centre, Campus Recreation, and the Campus Food Bank.
The Change Health Community Program (CHCP) is a preventative, lifestyle intervention program based out of the Department of Family Medicine in the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry. Program participants are equipped with knowledge and skills in four key areas to promote lifelong wellness: mental health, physical activity, nutrition and social connection.
Chromebook Lending Program
The Office of the Dean of Students has a limited supply of Chromebooks that can be lent to U of A students. Due to the limited number of Chromebooks, this lending program will be conducted via a referral system. Email dosdean@ualberta.ca to explore options and access support.

High School Youth Researcher Summer (HYRS) Program

Multifaith Prayer and Meditation Space
The Multi-Faith Prayer and Meditation Space in 172 HUB has been provided by the University of Alberta as an inclusive space for the campus community, with sensitivity to the specific requirements of diverse faith groups on campus. Although primarily for prayer and meditation, this space is available for dialogues and conference meetings, mentorship of student religious leaders, and spiritually based engagement that express a specifically interfaith perspective.
Prayer, Worship & Ceremony Space Support Grant
The Office of the Dean of Students (DoS), in partnership with the Office of the Vice-Provost Equity, Diversity and Inclusion, is piloting a funding initiative to support students in accessing University of Alberta bookable spaces to engage in prayer, worship or ceremony to facilitate an equitable student experience. Students and student groups have free access to many spaces on our campuses, including the HUB Multi-Faith Prayer and Meditation Space and the SUB Interfaith Prayer Space. However, these spaces have size limitations that do not allow for larger prayer, worship, or ceremony gatherings. This is an issue experienced at other Canadian Post Secondary Insitutions, as is the call from students for institutions to recognize students’ religious identities and support their religious practices.
Recognizing these calls and responding to feedback from Student Experience Action Plan (SEAP) regarding accessible and safe spaces, this initiative aims to enhance cultural safety on campus by supporting students’ ability to engage in prayer, worship, and ceremony as a community.
Rutherford Library Family Corner
The U of A Library has partnered with Students who Parent on Campus (SPOC), the Students’ Union and the Dean of Students to create the Family Corner in Rutherford Library (Room 3-114). The space is accessible to students and employees and their children through their OneCard (on request). The office of the Dean of Students assigns the access.
Students Who Parent Project
With support from a variety of University partners across all campuses, the Office of the Dean of Students is undertaking an initiative to enhance support for the U of A's student parents and meaningfully shift perceptions of our student parents on campus.
U of A Safe House Program
The University of Alberta Safe House Program offers temporary emergency accommodation for current students and their children. Registered students at the University of Alberta can access safe housing if they are experiencing an immediate personal safety risk, facing intolerable living conditions, or financially destitute.
