On behalf of First Peoples' House staff and Elders we are so ready and eager to welcome ALL First Nation, Métis and Inuit U of A students back on to campus!  This is our 14th Annual TAWOW! It is a very iconic memory for many FNMI students coming back onto campus whether it is your first year or your final year. 

FPH and so many organizations will be present to welcome you in a good way on August 31! Each of us will be present to showcase a diverse display of; volunteer opportunities, community support on and off campus, recreation programs, campus fun, ekwa city fun specifically for U of A FNMI post-secondary learners! 

This is a great opportunity and truly a great place to meet new FNMI students, staff and community members in a social environment.

Winter TAWOW

All First Nations, Métis, and Inuit students at the U of A are invited to attend WINTER TAWOW. WINTER TAWOW is a great opportunity to connect with other students and potential employers. The organizations that come to WINTER TAWOW are eager to connect with First Nations, Métis, and Inuit students across all programs at the U of A. First Peoples' House will provide food and a small gift for the students in attendance.

Organizations

WINTER TAWOW is our annual booth fair designed to welcome First Nations, Métis, and Inuit students at the University of Alberta back to campus for the start of a new term and connect them with employment resources. This event gives students the opportunity to connect with a diverse group of potential employers, explore future career options and learn about a variety of opportunities including:

  • internships

  • summer employment

  • volunteer positions

  • scholarships/awards/bursaries

If your organization is interested in hiring First Nations, Métis and Inuit students, this is a great opportunity to connect. Average attendance for WINTER TAWOW is typically between 150 - 200 First Nations, Métis and Inuit students. Our students are interested in exploring their options and potentially securing a position with your organization.
