The China Institute at the University of Alberta is pleased to announce the successful hosting of the 8th Canada-China Track 2 Dialogue on December 3 and 4, 2024 in Montréal, Canada.

This Canada-China Track Two Dialogue is supported by the governments of both countries and serves as an important mechanism for former government officials and renowned think tank scholars from both sides to discuss China-Canada relations and international and regional issues of mutual interest, in a setting that encourages candid and constructive exchanges of views.

Co-presided by the Chinese People’s Institute of Foreign Affairs (CPIFA), the 8th Dialogue marked the first in-person meeting since 2019. The event featured in-depth discussions on a wide range of topics, including:

• Canada-China bilateral and commercial relations
• US-Canada relations
• US-China relations
• Global hotspots
• The current state and trajectory of international institutions

Both delegations gained a deeper understanding of each other’s perspectives and expressed their commitment to convening a 9th Dialogue in the near future. A list of participants is found below.

The China Institute also wishes to extend its gratitude to CPIFA for its strong commitment to this Dialogue and the high-level contributions offered by its delegation.
