Dr. Zinck is an Associate Professor of English at The King's University College. She served as The King's first Dean of Arts, from July 2008-July 2011. Her areas of teaching and research include 17th century literature, especially Bunyan, Milton, early women's writing and spiritual autobiography. She has published in the area of Bunyan studies and issues related to 17th C non-conformity.
Since 2010 she has directed a volunteer team of educators who devised curriculum for Canadian Guántanamo detainee, Omar Khadr, while he was in Cuba. Since Mr. Khadr's return to Canada the volunteer education team continues to support his learning under the supervision of Corrections Canada. The volunteer education project has also expanded to include other student inmates at Bowden Institution, The Edmonton Institution, Grande Cashe and The Alberta Hospital.
Prof. Zinck earned her undergraduate degree, a Bachelors of Public Relations, from Mount St. Vincent University in Halifax. She completed a Master of Arts, and a Doctoral degree in English literature at The University of Alberta. She was awarded a SSHRC post-doctoral fellowship in 1993, and The Queen Elizabeth Diamond Jubilee Medal in 2012.
Dr. Zinck is an active member of the Edmonton Anglican diocese. She sits on the Anglican Diocese Executive Council, The Examining Chaplains Committee, and she serves as both a mentor and a member of the Steering Committee for the Ascend Leadership Project.
