Membership
Membership is open to anyone - including members of other institutes and centres - who conducts or participates in research or innovation related to cardiovascular research, and who align with the CVRI’s vision and mission.
Full membership is available to UofA faculty members, or a clinician associated with AHS eligible to hold research funds at the UofA.
Affiliate membership is available to any of the following who are under the primary supervision of a CVRI member:
- Undergraduate and graduate students, residents and postdoctoral fellows
- Research staff, such as coordinators, technicians, lab managers etc.
External Membership is available to stakeholders, partners, clinicians (not eligible for full membership), community members, or those involved in patient care or health system innovation.

- Access to studentships and trainee funding programs.
- Letters of support for external grant funding applications.
- Facilitated networking and collaboration opportunities.
- Priority access to CVRI-support cores and research support platforms (as they are developed).
Membership Expectations
- Acknowledge the CVRI and associated support on all CVRI-funded presentations and publications.
- List CVRI affiliation on CVs, resumes and bio sketches.
- Participate in CVRI events and collaboration opportunities.
- Serve on review panels and committees when needed.

Membership in the CVRI is free and the application process is easy! Our online application form requests only the bare minimum from you and we will work with the University to collect the rest of the information we need.
